Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Gather Speech
1. What areas do you serve?
At Gather Speech, we primarily serve the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and surrounding areas. We also offer teletherapy services for clients located throughout California, making it easier for you to access speech therapy no matter where you are.
2. Where do you see clients?
We believe that therapy is most effective when it’s personalized and in the right environment. While we offer in-person sessions, we also provide teletherapy options for your convenience. Whether you're at home, at work, or anywhere else that feels comfortable, we adapt to your needs. Many of our clients appreciate the flexibility of teletherapy, which allows us to work together remotely while still focusing on real-life goals.
3. Do you take insurance?
Gather Speech is an out-of-network provider, but we’re happy to help you navigate insurance reimbursement. We provide superbills for clients to submit to their insurance companies for potential reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm coverage for speech therapy services and any out-of-network benefits.
4. How do I get started?
Getting started is easy! We offer a free initial 15 minute consultation call where we’ll discuss your specific needs and goals for therapy. During this conversation, we’ll also review your therapy options, whether it’s in-person or through teletherapy. If we are a match and you decide to move forward, we’ll set up a plan that works best for you.
5. What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session will be a comprehensive evaluation. We’ll review your concerns, discuss any relevant medical history, and assess your current communication abilities. Based on this, we’ll create a personalized therapy plan to help you reach your goals. Whether you’re working on speech clarity, language skills, cognitive communication, or something else, we’ll make sure that our approach is tailored to your needs.
6. How long are the sessions?
Most sessions last around 60 minutes, depending on your goals and therapy plan. We’ll discuss the appropriate session length during your initial consultation and adjust as needed.
7. What types of therapy do you offer for adults?
We offer a wide range of therapy services for adults, including:
Speech and articulation therapy
Cognitive-communication therapy (for memory, attention, and problem-solving)

8. What if I can't attend in person?
No problem! We offer teletherapy services that allow you to receive high-quality speech therapy from the comfort of your own home or any private space. Teletherapy is a convenient and effective option, and we’ll walk you through how to use the technology before your first session.
9. Do you work with children?
Yes, we work with children as well as adults. For kids, we offer speech therapy services that include language development, articulation, social skills, and more. Our goal is to create a supportive and engaging therapy environment that encourages communication growth, whether in-person or through teletherapy.
10. How do I know if speech therapy is right for me or my child?
